My Story
I have always been in love with plants, healing, and Nature. As a small child I would create “Worm hospitals” in which I found earthworms that I thought might be sickly and I would make beds for them out of broad leaf plantain leaves. I had no idea at that time that Plantain was a healing “bandage” plant.

My maternal great grandmother, Granny, would take me into her backyard so we could pick plants for her to cook. It was one of my favorite things about going to visit with her.

When I was a little older, I saw a movie, Where the Lillies Bloom, about an Appalachian family that dug wild goldenseal to sell and breaking a fever with a bath of stewed onions. I found this absolutely fascinating,

As young teenagers, my best friend and I went to the movie theatre to see Hamlet. This might be where my love of Helena Bonham Carter started. She played Ophelia and the part that stuck in my brain is watching Ophelia picking plants and saying, “There’s Rosemary, that’s for remembrance”.

All this to say, herbalism is in my DNA. It has been with me all my life.
I have been studying herbalism since my late teens. My first, in person, teachers were Patsy Clark and her late husband, Don. They taught me about herbs, healing, Native American Spirituality, Reiki, gardening, homesteading, hard labor, life, love, and happiness. I am so very grateful to them and what gifts they empowered me with. Since that time I have gone on to take many courses in herbs, massage therapy, natural healing, food preservation, etc. I continue to learn each and every day and for the rest of my time on this plane. Patsy once told me, "A wise person knows enough to know they don't know enough".
Because of the courses I have taken I am considered a Herbalist, Master Food Preserver, Usui Reiki Practitioner, and probably a few other things. To me, I am just me. I honor my thirst for knowledge.
I gather recipes like a squirrel gathers nuts. I tend my garden and try to grow more every year. I'm addicted to canning, both water bath and pressure canning. I love animals, great and small. I love my family and do my best to feed and care for them. I want to share my knowledge with the world so that others may learn how to care for themselves and their loved ones.
Please join me on this journey.
